En la película As Good As It Gets (Mejor… imposible), el escritor maniático que interpreta Jack Nicholson planea un viaje en auto al lado de su amada Helen Hunt. El tipo planea el viaje de forma escrupulosa, previniendo cada momento y preparándose para cualquier tipo de situación. Y prepara, por supuesto, cualquier cantidad de mixtapes: uno para la mañana, otro para platicar, mixtapes para momentos tensos, para decir «I love you», para decir «I’m sorry», etcétera.

Sí, el personaje es un obsesivo-compulsivo, pero en esto de los mixtapes tiene toda la razón: la música puede acompañar, realzar e incluso motivar ciertos ambientes. El chiste está en poner la canción adecuada de forma oportuna. Insuperable es el momento cuando la música coincide con lo que uno está viviendo.
